On Rebuilding Body Trust
I remember the first time I tried to truly listen to my body. Haha!
Looking back, I see now I used to be a "walking head" - totally disconnected from my body and consumed by the rushing thoughts in my mind.
I was sitting at a café, staring at a plate of food, overthinking everything. Was I really hungry, or just eating because it was lunchtime?
If I stopped now, would I get hungry again too soon?
If I kept going, would I regret it?
It felt like a test I was failing in real-time.
For years, I had relied on external rules—meal plans, calorie counts, the “right” portion sizes, macros —you name it. Trusting my body felt impossible because, honestly, I didn’t believe it knew what it was doing.
What if it led me the wrong way?
But the truth is, the body is always speaking. It’s just that we’ve been taught to listen.
Maybe you’ve been told that hunger is something to control. That cravings are bad. That fullness is confusing. That rest should be earned.
All of this can make body trust feel out of reach - in reality, it isn’t a switch you flip, but something you build.
The first step is shifting out of self-judgment and into curiosity.
Instead of asking, Am I doing this right?
Try asking, What is my body telling me right now?
At your next meal, take a breath and check-in:
— How does hunger feel in my body?
— What does satisfaction feel like?
— What happens when I eat without distractions?
You don’t need perfect answers. Just noticing is enough.
And when doubt creeps in—because it will—remind yourself that this is a process.
You’re not failing if you second-guess. You’re learning, and that's ok.
Here is What's Happening Inside RISE:
We’re diving deeper into this in our final Book Club discussion next week, exploring what it really means to rebuild body trust—without rules, guilt, or second-guessing.
And in this week’s Intuitive Flow Practice, we’re taking this off the page and into the body, using somatic movement as a way to learn how to listen rather than control.
The doors are curerntly close, but you can join the waitlist here.
